Responsibilities

• Making design concept and decide on the type of parts to be used.
• Create 3D modeling and 2D drafting of the final design.
• Verification of design concept through prototype.
• Problems analysis and countermeasure.
• Design to meet model costing with a given price target and features. He may need to negotiate with other departments such as Purchasing department to achieve the cost target.
• Value engineering study and implementation.

Requirements

• Degree/Master in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years mechanical design experience.
• Diploma holders with more than 5 years relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience in completing at least one full cycle of design in any of the electronics consumer product.
• Knowledge in Product Safety regulation such as UL, SASO, IEC etc.
• Well verse in CAD packages, preferably Unigraphics NX.
• Knowledge in one or more of the following technical areas.
  a) Plastics product design
  b) Sheet metal design
  c) Injection tooling die design
  d) Press die tooling design
  e) Secondary process requirements e.g. Plating, VM, Hot stamping, Tampo print etc.
  f) CAD simulation
  g) Design for manufactureability
